Are we really free?

                Modern times; Modern thought, yet living in hypocrisy.

                Democracy prevails; Democracy is the key, yet restrictions still lives.

                He does this; She does that, still a concern for the society that’s lazy.

                Oh what a pity, we don’t follow the order, because that’s the dream, it seems.

                Born a boy, be an engineer or auditor, it’s fixed.

                Or join the family business, you shouldn’t argue with this.

                Born a girl; Love, you are lucky to be born!

                So, go ahead and study medicine or do arts, that would be enough,

                Argue with this, and you’d be married off.

                *Society does a witty laugh*

                “Oh, I have an idea!” said an over-excited teen,

                “Follow the system or you’ll break your spleen!”

                “I’d love to live here; I’d love to study here; I’d love to work here!”

                “You’re required to a pay a small processing fees my dear.”

                “Oh, such a gifted voice you have, it’s sad you are doing a job” said every other aunty

                ‘Weren’t you the one to advice me that I won’t succeed and forced my parents for a job’ thought the young lady.

                “Come home by 9.” Said a concerned mom to her daughter,

                “But, why does he get to stay out the whole night.” She pointed her finger towards her brother!

                ‘Apparently, men are victims of rape’ society believes!

                “Raise them to respect women!”

                “Oh you are so weak, a guy doesn’t cry. Don’t be such a sissy.”

                ‘I’m a human, and we do end up being emotional at some point of time.

                But, why it is okay to be a tomboy but to be a sissy is not okay!’

                “He loves him. She loves her. He loves her. She loves him.”

                Wish love was this simple. But some believe it is unnatural.

                There’s a ban on spreading love, what’s tomorrow, it’s sophistical.

                One can’t have a say on what one should eat,

                Wait, was it mentioned that it’s a democratic nation we live in?

                Why throw the garbage in dust bin?

                Doing everything illogical and not calling it a sin,

                Well that’s something.

                Let’s see how the story ends;

                “Hey, I have an opinion!” shouted a common man.

                “Your voice will die, just like the others did.” Whispered thousands of men!

Oh, we are definitely free!

                Wars are fought; hatred is spread. Why is it necessary?

                Live in peace and come together, isn’t that what humanity is supposed to be?

               

                This may not be a situation everywhere, but it is a major concern. Please don’t turn a blind eye towards these concerns. Development takes place by coming together, not by killing each other!
